Floating

Full Experience Description:

The initial 300x250 ad unit appears on the right side of the Yahoo! Homepage and can animate up to 15 seconds. The floating elements can cover up to 40% of the staging area for up to 6 seconds. After the 6 seconds of floating element animation, animation may continue in the 300x250 for 9 seconds, for a total animation time of 15 seconds. The floating element will only be shown to the user on their first visit. All subsequent page views will be a 60k standard flash unit without the floating component.


Alternate Experience Description:
Static image will appear on every page view for users that do not meet the Minimum System Requirements. The advertiser's messaging must be consistent with the final flash frame. Creative must contain brand attributes.

Full experience displays on first page view only

Minimum System Requirements:
Full experience served to A-grade* browsers. Browsers must have javascript enabled and meet the minimum flash player version requirements. Additionally the following specific conditions must apply:


  • Internet Explorer browsers on high bandwidth (LAN) connection.
  • All other A-grade browsers when maximum file size specs are met.

Timing
Yahoo Building:
  • Client must supply all creative assets (high-res logos/images, copy, etc) no later than 20 business days prior to launch
  • All creative must be finalized 10 business days prior to launch
Client Building:
  • All creative subject to Yahoo! approval - please reference Homepage General Guidelines.
  • If client builds, final files and redirect url(s) must be provided to Yahoo! no later than 10 business days prior to launch
  • Please provide .swf, .fla, .gif and all font files used (mac & pc formats)
  • Additionally, Yahoo! requests an interim review of creative before it is finalized, to ensure approval with creative and technical guidelines
  • Total animation time for entire ad cannot exceed 15 seconds
  • Creative must feature a 1 pixel border (gray [#666666] or black recommended, though any color that clearly distinguishes the ad from the content may be used).
  • Close Button: We have a standard close button that must be used for all Rich events on our homepage.
  • The location of the close button needs to be in the top right corner of the ad from the moment the experience goes outside of the ad unit.
  • Ads may not resemble or alter Yahoo! Homepage content at anytime (i.e. resembling Yahoo! buttons).
  • A Replay Ad text link will always be present on subsequent page views for enabled users.
  • The full experience will play on the first visit to the page for those users with the necessary capabilities. All subsequent page views can be either a standard flash or static unit.
  • Floating element must continuously move and cannot remain stationary over Yahoo! content such as the News or navigational links.
  • Creative must contain brand attributes in the final frame.
  • No third-party ad serving of any content (image, flash, html, javascript) is allowed. Approved third-party vendors are allowed to run a maximum of two 1x1 tracking pixels for each creative execution.Vendors subject to Yahoo! approval - contact Homepage event marketing team for details.
  • No pop-ups/pop-unders on the destination landing page.

  • CPU Usage: Idle CPU usage typically falls within 8-12%. When testing a Flash file for this ad, CPU usage after the initial loading of the file must be between 20% and 30%. An initial spike of up to 60% is acceptable in the first five seconds. (Idle CPU usage devised upon computer with a 2.0GHz Intel Pentium Processor and 512 MB of RAM running standard programs.)

Browser Information:
The Yahoo! Homepage serves the full advertising experience to Windows Internet Explorer 5.5 users on high bandwidth (LAN line) with flash & JavaScript enabled. An alternate experience served to Firefox, Macintosh, Netscape, below IE 5.5 browsers, JavaScript disabled users and those who don't have flash installed or are on dial-up connection.
